Rosa Bell Bowling married Dr. Chandler in Denver in 1941.  They met through their involvement in the Christian Science Church.  Rosa, the daughter of an old Southern family, had been married previously and had two children, Barbara and Stephen.  They settled into Dr. Chandler’s bungalow on the grounds of the San Marcos, where they lived until his death in 1950.  Rosa moved to Virginia and remarried.  Rosa made many return trips to Chandler, most notably to dedicate the town's central park as Dr. A.J. Chandler Park in the 1970s, and in 1987 to help celebrate the city's 75th anniversary.  She passed away in 1989 at the age of 91.
